Leeds city centre has over 1,000 shops, 20 major hotels and several more under construction including 8 more proposed schemes. The city is also home to four renowned theatres, 152 pubs, bars and cafes, and 29 nightclubs with bars and late licenses. It is fast-becoming the entertainment capital of the North.

Leeds has a full calendar of events, from an exciting programme of open air public entertainment for all the family - including 'Opera in the Park', 'Party in the Park' and 'Classical Fantasia' - to prestigious work presented by Opera North, Phoenix Dance, Northern Ballet Theatre and the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The renowned West Yorkshire Playhouse stages more productions than any other theatre outside London.
A question of sport
There are excellent sporting facilities in Leeds for both the spectator and the participant, with championship football at Elland Road, international cricket and super-league rugby at Headingley and horse racing at Wetherby.
